DEED OF GIFT

A Deed of Gift is a legal document that transfers ownership of a gift from one person (the donor) to another person (the donee). It is often used to give away cash to purchase property however it can also include artwork, jewellery, or a car.

A Deed of Gift establishes a clear record of the transfer of ownership and can be used to avoid disputes in the future.

The Deed of Gift typically includes information such as the name and address of the donor and the donee, a description of the property being gifted, any conditions or restrictions attached to the gift, and the date and signature of the donor.

In some cases, the Deed of Gift may also need to be notarised or witnessed to be legally valid.

It is important to note that a Deed of Gift is irrevocable, meaning that once it is signed and delivered to the donee, the donor cannot change their mind and take back the gift.

It is therefore important for both the donor and the donee to fully understand the terms and conditions of the gift before signing the Deed of Gift.
